I do not understand why some parents imprison their own children from the outside world.
I understand those who have daughters are overprotective.
I understand those who may have the only child.
I understand those who are afraid of the corrupted nature of this society nowadays.
I also completely understand that they love their children so much.

But really? Can they protect their kids forever?

They're just showing nothing more than a narrow road to their children. Being shown many opportunities is an effort to learn, feel, grow, and think. To be human, you also have to experience rocky roads and shallow pits. So then next time, you can jump and dodge your way to the finish line.

My parents used to be afraid of me associating myself with other kids....making the wrong crowd of friends......messing up in school......and losing my status as the goody straight "A" kid that I once was. But with their desperate attempt to protect me from all that, they went overboard and kept me in a jail cell.
I'm talking about, "James Bond high-security shit."

It's very frustrating for me to go by what my parents say. What music taste you should like, how you should wear your clothes, what friends you should choose, what career path you should take, blah blah blah.

Being unable to choose as an individual, it'd be totally hard when children are set out in the outside world. For that, they become dependent on what others' want them to do and they are bound to do whatever they want to do because of their fears.

Now for those who got real real strict parents.
Just know that they love you. It's not because they wanted to make your life miserable. They just don't know how to talk to their kids. I think communication is very important. I believe affection is too.

So please, do not shut your children out of the outside world. It doesn't necessarily mean that they should expose themselves out there to get a taste of what it's like...but inform them. Inform them about the precautions because you love them.
